Rota Fortunae is a colourful take on concept of fate i.e. the wheel of fortune . I watched the film ’24 Hour Party People’ again recently (such a great film. You really should see it if you haven’t already). I’ve always enjoyed the moment where Christopher Eccleston’s down and out character Boethius gives the passing Anthony Wilson, played by Steve Coogan, some advice. He says It's my belief that history is a wheel. "Inconstancy is my very essence," says the wheel. "Rise up on my spokes if you like, but don't complain when you're cast back down into the depths. Good times pass away, but then so do the bad. The worst of times, like the best, are always passing away."

So that is the idea behind the new print. I chose to focus on the upswing…the best of times as it were, hence all the colour.

It’s a 7 layer hand pulled screenprint on 300gsm GF Smith Paper and is sized 50cm x 70cm. Limited edition of 100.
